3 Best Coffee Brews of 2021
Over the past year, Mr. Brew and I have had the opportunity to try some amazing new coffees and really key in on what we love about our go-to blends. Coffee used to be something that felt more like a task. Setting up the French press was tedious, measuring water temperature was pointless and didn’t really make a difference, and the grounds were just grounds.
But coffee has taken on a whole new meaning in our lives. I look forward to the weekend mornings when we can sit down and relax while we drink a new blend or revisit an old favorite. Our cabinet is teeming with bags of coffee that allow us to mix it up. We have learned tips and tricks that have made the coffee taste way better than it used to, and the subtleties of each blend and roast now shine out in their own unique individuality.
I am grateful for the past year of sharing our favorite coffees with you guys. As I looked back, I wanted to highlight a few of our favorites coffees from 2021!
1. Brazos Breakfast Blend from Alamo Coffee (Lampasas)
I came across Alamo Coffee out of Lampasas, Texas, while we were driving through last spring. I stopped for a drink at their cafe and finally ordered their bagged coffee this past fall. I am so glad that I did. I ordered two bags and both types were freshly roasted and packed with quality beans and quality flavors. The Brazos was on the sweeter side with notes of chocolate and toffee, but still something that I could drink every day. This is definitely a winner for the year and one that I always want to have around.
2. Chiapas from HEB Cafe Ole Commemorative Edition
Mr. Brew declared this one of his favorite brews early last year. Although it took me a little longer to fall in love with it, I have now grown to love the light smokiness of this Mexican medium roast. It is the perfect cup for early mornings and is gentle and enjoyable for all palettes.
3. Beyond Black from Black Rifle Coffee
This is the first bag of coffee that I reviewed on this blog, and it remains one of my favorites to drink. This brew is a dark roast, chalk full of strong smoky flavors with a hint of chocolate to tie it together. This cup of coffee always makes me feel like I am sitting in the woods around a campfire, sipping my coffee.
We tried so many great coffees this year and are definitely looking forward to trying more blends and finding more great companies to support in 2022.
Have a great new year, and keep brewing!
Cheers,
Mrs. Brew
