The Pumpkin King - Bones Coffee Company Review

mug of coffee next to bag of coffee beans

To end our exploration of pumpkin coffee this month, we are celebrating with the Pumpkin King. We have tried several of Bones’s coffees since starting our blog, and this seasonal blend is my favorite so far.

Bones describes this blend as a “medium roast with creamy pumpkin, nutty pecan and sweet praline…” We brewed this in our French press to our usual specs: 32 oz of 200F water, 50 g on medium fine grind.

Even after a few weeks of brewing it maintained an active bloom, which always makes me happy to see because it is a direct correlation to Bones’s commitment to fresh coffee beans. It carries a strong aroma of pumpkin and spice, but once brewed it is much sweeter and the praline and pecans are more forward. The pumpkin allows the coffee to remain smooth, while being a more subdued flavor.

This Limited Edition roast is one of many Nightmare Before Christmas coffees that Bones has available right now (but not much longer!). They also brought forth Ruff Weather (oatmeal creme pie), Mudslide Boogie (mudslide), Frog’s Breath (chocolate mole), and Santa Jack (cranberry creme brulee). On top of this amazing line up of limited edition coffees, Bones has fall seasonal flavors with even more variety.

No matter the time of year, you can bet that Bones Coffee Company has amazing, high-quality, flavored coffee. For two years in a row I’ve enjoyed their pumpkin coffee. Now to see what they offer for Christmas.

Cheers!

Mrs. Brew
