La Vida Coffee Shop - Review

La Vida Coffee Shop, Downtown San Antonio, TX

Mr. Brew and I recently headed to downtown San Antonio, TX, and found ourselves in La Vida Coffee. Right away, we were drawn to the large seating area, bookshelves, and tables that sat in the morning sunshine. The atmosphere was calm and offered a perfect moment away from the chaos outside to sip some espresso and relax.

We ordered a Hot Honey Lavender Latte and an Iced Mocha, and we were very pleased with both! The Honey Lavender latte was incredibly balanced and not overly sweet. The lavender was more prominent and instead of making your senses pucker, the honey offered a pleasant creamy sweetness. It reminded me a bit of a London Fog. If you are a fan of Honey Lavender lattes, definitely ask for one. However our barista mixed it resulted in pure bliss.

The Iced Mocha was also very good. They use a high quality chocolate that tastes similar to dark chocolate, adding a rich and bitter contrast to the espresso. On a hot day it was the perfect way to cool down.

La Vida also topped our drinks with a sweet surprise, adding tiny cookies with sprinkles on top of both our lattes. They tasted like shortbread cookies and were the perfect palate cleanser (or little treat) before indulging in our coffees.

If you have a chance to head to downtown San Antonio, check out La Vida Coffee on Jefferson St. It can be easily missed, but look for the signs and happy coffee drinkers. They also offer pastries and breakfast tacos, and have lots of books to peruse while sipping.

I know we’ll be back when we head downtown again. Maybe we’ll see you there!

Cheers,

Mrs. Brew
