Brevity Whole Bean Review

Last week we shared our thoughts on Brevity’s Dirty Chai and Irish Cream Cold Brew. But while we were slugging down that espresso, we grabbed a bag of their whole beans to fuel us the rest of the week.

What immediately stood out to me was that we got an entire pound of beans for only $12.50! This is a great price for this much coffee as I am usually spending about $20 a bag when I order and only receive 12 oz. So, we were immediately pleased by this.

Second, this smells just like their delightful espresso. It was like we brought their blue coffee hut home with us.

It has a smoky aroma with hints of caramel sweetness that linger. Once brewed, it has a dark smoky flavor with a touch of chocolate dryness and a splash of bright citrus to finish out. The citrus brings a hint of acidity to cleanse the palate, but does not distort the flavor of the coffee.

Brevity Whole Beans produce a smooth, medium-bodied coffee. It appears to be a mix of Arabica and Robusta beans (the beans are different shapes, sizes, and colors), which adds to the dark smokiness and the brighter acidic finish. This is a great coffee to drink black or as a base for brewing at home. Plus, we know it works wonders as their espresso!

Barista Notes:

Although this is great for brewing in a French press, Brevity’s whole beans make an excellent at-home cold brew. It has all the depth of the dark coffee flavors, smokiness, and chocolatey dryness, without any acidity. We added nothing to it and drank it black! The caffeine was strong and refreshing and helped round out the hot Texas morning.

If you are looking for an all around great coffee that you can happily drink every day, try Brevity Whole Beans. They provide the depth of coffee flavor that we seek, without overpowering our palates with sweet and fruity notes.

Cheers,

Mrs. Brew
