Houston Blend - HEB Cafe Olé Review

bag of coffee, french press

When you think of Houston, TX, do you picture the Astros baseball team? Karbach Brewery? A blend of humid swamps and dense forests?

Or, do you think of sweet pecan praline and delicate coconut?

That’s what comes to our mind, especially when we are sipping a hot mug of Houston Blend from HEB’s Cafe Olé.

We picked up this bag because of a kind stranger, who told us it was the best blend out of the entire Texas Flavors lineup. Since that fateful day, it has been a regular in our coffee routine.

With notes of pecan praline and coconut, this medium bodied coffee is smooth and sweet, but not overwhelming. It brings in elements of caramel to blend with the praline, but it still holds true to the depth of a medium roast coffee, with the coconut creating a smooth finish. There is a touch of smokiness that grounds the flavor and allows the sweetness to tingle the roof of your mouth.

This is a wonderful coffee to pair with both savory and sweet breakfasts. Our favorite pairing is with a warm honey biscuit, bacon, and eggs.

If you haven’t tried the Houston Blend and are looking for a sweeter start to your coffee routine, grab a bag when you head back to HEB.

Cheers,

Mrs. Brew
