Invader Coffee - The Original
The Original Invader Coffee is a well-balanced and easy drinking cup of coffee. I have brewed it multiple times in the last few weeks and finally got it dialed in to the strength of flavor I was hoping for.
I judged a book by its cover, and assumed that the bag would be very powerful in flavor. It wasn’t, but instead has a nice balance of flavors and sweetness that sits well on the palate. When brewed using 50 grams of medium to medium-coarse grinds in my French press, I was able to taste a hint of chocolatey dryness, and a light smokey flavor. There is also an airy creaminess that lingers long after the last sip.
Invader Coffee makes this brew with “a blend of central and south American organic coffee beans” and air roasts them to enhance the “rich, medium bodied taste with hints of dark chocolate, cacao butter and oranges with a dash of caramel to finish” (Invadercoffee.com). I didn’t personally pick out the orange citrus flavors, but I definitely tasted the chocolate and creamy caramel.
All of Invader Coffee’s beans are air-roasted which leads to a low acidity. This is definitely obvious while drinking their coffee. After finishing a cup, there is no heaviness in my stomach or head that I can sometimes experience with more acidic varieties of coffee.
This is the second bag of Invader Coffee that I have tried, the first being their Whiskey Blend. They are a veteran owned company out of Austin, Texas and have many different blends and roasts to try. If you are curious about trying out their products, start with The Original Invader Coffee to get a balanced, easy-drinking, satisfying cup of coffee.
Cheers,
Mrs. Brew
