Dia de los Churros - Raven’s Wing Coffee Review

bag of coffee, cup, plant

There is something uniquely festive about the churro. It is sweet, has a crunch, and is coated in sugar and cinnamon. If you’re lucky enough, it comes filled with a creamy cajeta. And whether you want to celebrate an occasion, or just the day, the churro is a delectable treat.

So when we saw Raven’s Wing Coffee had a coffee inspired by the Mexican churro, we sank our teeth in.

We ordered Dia de los Churros in whole bean and ground it to a medium-fine grind before brewing in our French press. It has a moderately active bloom and a strong vanilla custard aroma (just like freshly fried churros). Once fully steeped and poured, the aroma tames out but still strongly smells of a creamy custard. There are hints of cinnamon sugar in the flavor with a lingering spice from the cinnamon that tingles the palate.

Barista’s Note: Turn up the sweetness and add a splash of Horchata milk. Add just a little as your creamer or go all in and make a cafe au lait by adding equal parts coffee and horchata milk. The additional sweetness of the cinnamon and sugar was delicious! This is the perfect at-home concoction for those who love sweet coffee in the morning.

This medium bodied coffee is mildly acidic but with a bright refreshing finish. Dia de los Churros is reminiscent of the treat it was named after and is a great morning pick-me-up for anyone who likes their coffee mildly sweet.

Get it before it’s gone!

Cheers,

Mrs. Brew
