Pumpkin Pie Tea
Amid the caffeinated pumpkin spice coffee season, comes a Pumpkin Pie tea that is caffeine free and the perfect treat after a long day.
I love drinking tea in the evenings. The hot drink after a long day calms the nerves and helps me wind down. So it is always an added bonus when I find something that is caffeine free.
When I first got All in The Leaves Pumpkin Pie tea, (it was gifted by family) I was worried that it would be too sweet and pumpkiny and that I would really dislike the flavor. But I felt inspired to give it a go after writing about how much I enjoyed the pumpkin coffees I have tried this month.
This tea is not at all what I expected it to be. This tea is made with rooibos, honeybush, cloves, cinnamon, ginger, and marigolds.
After a three-five minute steep, it has a very fruity and sweet aroma, but the flavors are not as sweet. Instead I can taste a little bit of spice at the back of my tongue, but it is still not an overwhelming presence. The majority of this flavor profile is subtle; a hint of pumpkin, a dash of ginger, and a pinch of cloves to finish it off.
All in The Leaves labeled this as a rooibos tea, which is a caffeine free herbal tea made from the Rooibos bush, usually grown along the western coast of South Africa, and contains several antioxidants. (Healthline.com)
If you have ever had a traditional red rooibos tea, this has a very similar taste profile to that with the extra fall flavors on top. I would describe rooibos tea as earthy and slightly bitter. This, in my opinion, makes it a perfect base for the Pumpkin Pie tea.
Cheers,
Mrs. Brew
