Irish Cream - HEB Cafe Ole Review

HEB Cafe Olé has come through once again with their whole bean Irish Cream! Described as a “medium bodied with slightly sweet mint liqueur flavor,” this bean is very dense and oily on the exterior. Straight from the bag, it suggests a mixture of vanilla and oak aromas and flavors, with that declared hint of mint.

When brewed to our usual specs (50g medium fine grind, 32 oz water at 200F) it produced an active bloom until the last brew of the bag. Actively bubbling away, the strong aroma is immediately subdued and complemented by the coffee base.

This brew is mildly sweet, fresh, very creamy, and a great morning pick-me-up for those who love to drink Irish Cream. It is reminiscent of an Irish Cream latte from my favorite coffee shop, but without extra milk and sugar added.

Barista Notes: We brewed lattes with it and added even more Irish Cream and frothed milk for a delicious (and slightly boozy) morning latte. We also cooked cupcakes with it. Its natural creaminess and gentle sweetness makes it versatile and adaptable to whatever mood you are in.

Next time you are in HEB, look for the Irish Cream in the whole bean section. It’ll be worth your time.

Cheers,

Mrs. Brew
