Irish Cream - Bones Coffee Review

You can’t go through March without some Irish luck… and not all of us can drink Irish Coffee at work in the mornings. Ahem. But we can drink Bones Coffee’s Irish Cream!

The aroma is very strong straight out of the bag, but when ground up and brewed, it becomes more subdued and balanced with a natural coffee flavor. At first, I thought it had a stronger whiskey aroma. However I was actually smelling something much more gentle and sweet.

My biggest fear with Irish Cream flavors is that they will have a strong whiskey flavor that overpowers the coffee. But that was not the case with this blend. After brewing, it took on more of a vanilla and cream flavor. It was interesting to note how much it tasted like we had added creamer, without reducing the impact of the coffee itself. I rarely drink my coffee with creamer in it, but I love when my coffee tastes creamy.

Bones Coffee describes this blend as having a nutty flavor, which I personally didn’t pick up on.

This is definitely a medium roast and is well balanced with the flavors they added. The acidity is not noticeable and is instead more enjoyable than a lighter roast. You also don’t have the typical smokey notes of a dark roast.

Barista Note: This is a wonderful blend to drink hot with nothing added. But if you feel the need to mix it up, it would taste great as an iced coffee or as a cold brew. All you would need after brewing is a splash of cream and some ice cubes. You could even add a shot of your favorite whiskey to drink a real Irish coffee this month, hot or cold. Also, this coffee tastes great with some shortbread cookies, so grab some of those at the store too!

If you need something delicious to finish the month of March that makes you feel lucky, grab a bag of the Irish Cream. Bones Coffee always ships freshly roasted and flavorful beans that are sure to please.

Cheers,

Mrs. Brew
