Brazilian Blend - Medina River Coffee Roasters

A few weeks ago, Mr. Brew and I took a trip to the local Medina River Coffee Roasters in northern San Antonio. We were able to try an amazing latte and their Coyote drip while we were in the store, but we also snagged a bag of their Brazilian Single-Origin whole beans to take home and enjoy.

This is the bag that they grind into espresso, and I expected a strong and bitter flavor because of that fun fact.

After brewing, I noticed a very fruity aroma. I caught hints of citrus, possibly lemon. After sipping it, we noticed a slight caramel flavor that blended with the acidity to create a smooth finish. This blend is very refreshing, and a perfect way to transition into Spring.

We looked on Medina River’s website and saw that the caramel flavor was actually supposed to be chocolate, both of which contribute to a creamy taste. The blend of creamy chocolate and acidic fruit rounded out perfectly in this dark roast. It was easily drinkable and welcomes spring with every sip.

Barista Tip: This coffee is great hot. It allows the fruity acidity and creamy flavors to shine in their natural state. No cream or sugar is necessary. This was even better as a cold brew. We let ours sit for 12 hours and it was so refreshing. The bright citrus flavors and a lack of actual acid in the coffee was a delicious way to start the day.

If you are in the San Antonio area, check out Medina River Coffee Roasters. They were voted the #1 coffee shop in SA, they are veteran owned, and take a lot of pride in their coffee and beans. We are definitely planning a trip back for a latte and another bag of coffee.

Cheers,

Mrs. Brew
