Coffee Me Crazy House Blend - Local Roaster Review

For the month of August, I wanted to profile some local San Antonio roasters! First stop is Coffee Me Crazy. Located on the corner of Tezel and Mainland (West Side), this quaint little coffee shop features so many drinks and food items on their menu!

But I brought a bag of their house-roasted coffee home with me and am pleased to share my thoughts with you. All I knew about this coffee was that it was a blend of Kenyan and Honduran beans and that it was roasted in house.

When opening the bag, I was greeted by a pleasant coffee aroma with a hint of caramel sweetness. The beans are not oily at all, leading me to believe this is a light roast. After grinding up the beans, they produced a very active bloom in the French press, proving that these really were fresh.

It tastes more like a medium roast than a light roast, at first. It has some of the heavier and darker qualities of a medium but it is paired with a bright acidity. I taste hints of berry with an earthy woodiness at the back. I can’t really taste the caramel that I smelled, but Mr. Brew could. There was no chocolate dryness, but the coffee had a smooth flavor and a soft mouthfeel.

The mild acidity and bright berry flavors further the medium/light roast notion. All in all, this House Blend coffee is one worth trying! It is a wholesome, well-rounded and berrylicious cup of coffee that is sure to brighten your day.

And if you have time, stop by their shop for a latte and breakfast or lunch. Their menu has so much to offer - from lattes galore, to tea, to smoothies, to sandwiches and daily specials. (P.s. The Menu on their website does not do justice to the choices and offerings on their wall.)

Grab a bag of Coffee Me Crazy House Blend and let us know what you thought of it.

Cheers,

Mrs. Brew
