Bosque Ranch Dark Roast - Community Coffee Review

A cowboy coffee done right” is what awaits any who desire to try the newest line of coffee from Community Coffee. Community Coffee partnered with Bosque Ranch and founder Taylor Sheridan to create a line of coffees that are full of the “rich history and tradition of the Western lifestyle.”

As it is cooling down here in Texas, we are drawn more and more to the smoky and chocolatey flavors found in darker roasts, so we ordered the whole bean Dark Roast, which was described as a “full-bodied coffee with a robust flavor and smooth finish.”

After grinding the whole beans to a medium fine grind, we brewed to our usual specs in the French press: 50g of grounds, 200F water, steeped for 4-5 minutes after blooming.

We are first greeted by a powerful smoky aroma. The smoky aroma carries strongly into the flavor of the beans where we also taste subtle notes of dark chocolate. The chocolate rides more at the back of the palate, providing a dry finish that leaves you wanting another sip. Bosque Ranch Craft Coffees also said to expect some spice, but I get more of an earthy grassiness. Not uncommon in dark roasts, the earthiness of the beans complements the smoky, intense dark roasting process.

This Dark Roast seemed a bit afronting after the first brew, but mellowed into a pleasant sipper. There is no denying that this is a dark roast. The depth of smoky flavors and dark chocolate will make anyone feel strong enough to tackle the day of work ahead.

Cheers,

Mrs. Brew
