(512) Brewing - Pale

An American Pale Ale out of Austin, Texas, this beer is an easy drinker with complex flavor. Organic 2-row, crystal, and wheat malts begin the process and the pale ale comes to completion with the addition of Simcoe, Mosaic, and Amarillo hops. With 5.3% ABV and 30 IBU, this beer is light, crisp, and sessionable.

When I cracked the top I could smell the citrus and pine from the prominent Simcoe hops, and the first drink certainly had a citrus punch that came from the mixture of hop strains, and that was followed with some pine and berry flavors from the Mosaic hops. It had that nice orange, pale ale color and a great head that followed me drink by drink down the glass.

It is worth noting that (512) works hard to create products that are conscientious and as organic as possible. They are also certified by the Independent Craft Brewers association. I’ve tried a number of (512) beers and I plan on profiling a number of them soon. They make some great beers and it is a pleasure to drink such finely crafted varieties as we profile hops and styles we (Mr. and Mrs. Brew) have brewed ourselves.

The (512) Pale is a great way to try Simcoe hops if you want to get a better idea of how complex they are and how they pair with other hops such as Mosaic and Amarillo, as they do in this badass brew.

Check out (512) Brewing if you haven’t. They have a nice selection of beer for experimenting and expanding your flavors, but they always have the staples on tap. And if you live in the Austin area, stop by and get a six-pack from them, or check out their website for any events they might have coming up.

Cheers!

Mr. Brew
