Mr. Coffee 12-Cup Coffee Grinder - Product Review

If you want to get into drinking coffee with freshly ground coffee beans, you will need a good quality grinder. When we were in the market for a coffee grinder, I did NOT want to break the bank to find the right one. There were some priced for just ten dollars while others reached into the hundreds. Not only did price matter, but I also needed a coffee grinder that was compact enough to fit in our cupboard or be moved easily.

I settled on the Mr. Coffee Multi Grind 12 Cup Coffee Grinder, and I am so pleased with this grinder! At first, I’ll admit I wasn’t sold on the need or use of a grinder. But now we use it everyday and the changes in our coffee flavor and quality is noticeable.

The grinder has adjustable settings that allows you to change the size of your grind, from espresso to coarse, and allows you to adjust the amount of time it needs to spend grinding. You can have it grind longer if you have more beans, or shorter if you have very few. I left mine on 4 cups (lowest setting) and still use that with the 50 grams of whole beans we brew with. It has always been evenly ground.

After playing with it a little bit, I was able to dial in the appropriate grind size and time that I wanted for my brewing methods (mainly French press and cold brew). Now my coffee is more consistent and I am extracting the right amount of aroma and flavor from my grounds.

Since we don’t really brew much at-home espresso, I don’t use the fine grind as often. But it does create a very fine ground that works great for my Moka pot or an espresso maker if you have one.

Having the option to manipulate the grind opens up a lot of doors for at home brewing without breaking the bank. (It was only $25!) If you brew a coffee with grounds that are too fine, you run the risk of over extraction - which leads to a burnt and bitter taste. The same is true if you brew with a ground that is too coarse for the method - it will under extract and lead to weak and watery flavors. Being able to hone in your preference of flavor and grinding needs makes sure your coffee is great every time you brew.

It is a bit loud, but I don’t think you can get away from that with a grinder.

If you are looking at breaking into the at-home grinding, or want to go deeper into your coffee brewing, consider this grinder. It is compact, adjustable, and easy to use.

Cheers,

Mrs. Brew
